You made risotto with WHAAAT?

Another filler in between proper posts, this time for a damn tasty orzotto* developed for my now regular (almost) healthy recipe contribution to the NRMA’s ‘Living Well Navigator’. Give it a go, it’s not bad.

Meanwhile, houseguest cat is happy to wait by the cooktop if it means wolfing down some risotto with extra pancetta. At your service, sir.

* Orzotto is a portmanteau of risotto and orzo, the Italian word for barley. The dish is popular in the Friuli Venezia-Giulia region of north-eastern Italy.



  1. Sounds great. We’ve used different grains to make a “risotto” style dish. I hope your mamma is better with her dental issues. That is tough, not eating whatever you like and also for you to come up with tasty dishes!! You did great with this one. Have good week!!

  2. Ciao Marisa, I’ll be making the orzotto for a while longer. It’s taking a while for mamma to overcome her dental problems. Not easy on 91-year-old gums, so there’s still a lot of mashing and overcooking going on! Hope you’re well, nice to hear from you.

    • So do I. He loves risotto, pasta and steamed vegetables, especially brussels sprouts. Crazy cat.
